By continuing the important conversation, Low Bros will be showcasing their CON.TXT exhibition in Hamburg this week. The #BlackLivesMatter movement has grown to be one of the largest movements in US history, and its message has reached beyond its borders. While identifying such pertinent themes, Low Bros have touched on how white people need to acknowledge their responsibility to dismantle oppressive, racist systems.
As an educational starting point, first exhibited in Berlin, this exhibition continues to amplify the topic of white privilege and asks questions of how it can be better utilised in institutions, as well as private & public spaces. While the search for answers is ongoing, the artworks aim to highlight the problems of unchecked whiteness, especially when it is being recognised as a default perspective in society. By debunking the concept of privileges and the problems that arise when they are left unchecked, the context of this exhibition aims to engage whiteness as an ally to the BIPOC community.“
